Visakhapatnam Port Authority is the leading port in India with a 26.36% share in marine products export, shipping 2.64 lakh metric tonnes of marine products worth ₹16,877 crore in 2022-23. Andhra Pradesh, with its vast fishing harbor and encouragement for cultivation, quality, and hygienic production, is at the forefront of seafood production and export, says a government official. The country exported 17.36 lakh metric tonnes of seafood, worth $8.09 billion, with frozen shrimp remaining the major export item in both quantity and value, and the US and China turning out to be the major importers.
