Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting to discuss the formation of the Uttar Pradesh Inland Waterways Authority (IWA). The IWA will regulate inland water transport and tourism, conduct surveys and investigations, and promote the development of waterways. Adityanath suggested assigning eminent experts as chairman and vice-chairman, with the state's transport commissioner as the CEO. The IWA will also study data related to inland water traffic, provide technical training, and coordinate water transport with other modes of transportation. Adityanath emphasized the need for standards to classify inland waterways.
