The World Container Index by Drewry recorded a 11.7% gain, reaching USD 1,761, its highest level since December 2020. Head-haul rates across Shanghai- US, Shanghai- Europe and Shanghai- Mediterranean routes increased between 9% and 25%. Back-haul and transatlantic trade lanes remained muted. The China- US West Coast rates appreciated over 45% in the last 5 weeks, with China- US East coast rates also rising. China- Europe trade increased by 25%, while China- Mediterranean trade rose by 9%. The four-week increase is the longest since January 2022.
