Russia and India are set to launch major energy initiatives and a business club to strengthen commercial ties. Russian Trade Commissioner Alexander Rybas stated that the withdrawal of western companies from Russia has created opportunities for Indian industries in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, energy, and food. The two countries have seen increased energy trade since the Ukraine war in 2022, and Rybas believes that western sanctions have actually opened up new possibilities for cooperation between India and Russia. Cooperation in the fertilizer and diamond sectors was highlighted as priorities for both nations.
