The Indian government is planning to build a multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) over 255 acres near Pithampur in the Sagor village of the Dhar district. The park, to be developed at a cost of INR 900 crore ($120 million), will be constructed in three phases with the target completion of Phase I by 2025. The MMLP will cater to around 12.79 million metric tonnes of cargo and provide employment opportunities in the region, which includes Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar, Pithampur, Khandwa and Barwani. The park will also operate on a partnership between the National Highways Logistics Management, Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation, and Rail Vikas Nigam.
