PESB picks Mr. Sanjay Swarup to be the next CMD of CONCOR - India Shipping News

- Sanjay Swarup chosen as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR)

- Swarup currently serves as Director of International Marketing and Operations at CONCOR

- PESB chose Swarup from a shortlisted of eight candidates, six of whom were from CONCOR

- Swarup is a 1990 batch IRTS officer and has held assignments in the public sector and government

- Swarup has held various positions in operations, commercial, safety, and information technology in BHEL and Indian Railways before joining CONCOR

- Swarup has experience in managing dry ports, international marketing, commercial, operations, and strategic planning functions in CONCOR

- Swarup holds a B.E. (Hons) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from IIT Roorkee and a PGDM in Public Policy and Management from IIM Bangalore

- Swarup is a life member of several logistics and transport associations

- The appointment of Swarup is subject to final approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet

- The incumbent CMD, V Kalyana Rama, will step down on 30 September

- CONCOR is a state-owned rail hauler of containers that has been lined up for privatization by the government, but the formal process has not started yet.
