India's operations at the Chabahar port in Iran have become commercially viable and the two countries are close to signing a long-term contract. The agreement, valid for 10 years and automatically extendable, will replace the current annual pact. Cargo handling at the port has increased significantly, and India is targeting a handling of 13,282 TEUs in 2023. Discussions are ongoing for future investments in Chabahar. The chief executive of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization stated that major issues for the port's development have been resolved.
