India's Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways attended a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). The MoU aims to use waterways for the export of petroleum products to Bangladesh and Southeast Asian countries. The agreement is part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and will boost India's Act East Policy. NRL will export 10,000 MT of products per month through the IWAI terminal. The MoU aligns with the "Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for Northeast" and aims to enhance inland waterways transportation.
