No impact of Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (SCDDA) on India: GTRI - Logistics Insider

Starting 01-01-2023, Germany implemented the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (SCDDA) to combat forced labor and other labor law violations. The law applies to businesses in Germany and those dealing with Germany. Smaller firms will be covered from January 2024. The think tank GTRI states that the law will have no significant impact on India as it already has appropriate legislation. The SCDDA shifts the responsibility for identifying risks to businesses and promotes due diligence in supply chains. The law may increase costs but could also protect workers. Strict implementation could have consequences for Germany's reliance on cobalt from Congo and the import of industrial goods from China. Germany is India's largest trading partner and a major investor.
