A new road safety center called CARTS has been inaugurated in New Delhi by the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari. The center, established by SaveLIFE Foundation, aims to implement and monitor road safety projects across India. It will focus on reducing road crash fatalities in 100 high priority districts and 100 highway corridors by 50% in the next 5 years. CARTS has developed a Severity Index to rank districts based on road crashes and will provide necessary tools to bring down road crashes in collaboration with government authorities.
