Online travel agencies (OTAs) in India are recording a surge of up to 15-20% YoY in bookings during the monsoon season, reportedly due to more budget-conscious travellers taking advantage of off-season pricing and exploring both popular and offbeat destinations. OTAs including Yatra.com, ixigo, Cleartrip, Thomas Cook and SOTC reported increased search activity and advance bookings this year for activities such as monsoon hiking and self-drive holidays. Goa, Kerala and the Northeast remain the most popular domestic choices, while Indonesia, the Maldives, Malaysia, Mauritius, Seychelles, Vietnam and Bhutan are favoured international locations.
