India is set to witness rapid infrastructural development over the next 25 years, according to Sarbananda Sonowal, the minister for ports, shipping, and waterways. Sonowal highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India a developed and self-dependent country by 2047. He pointed to projects like Bharatmala and Sagarmala as catalysts for India's progress. Sonowal also emphasized the significant improvement in port parameters, such as efficiency and productivity, in the past nine years. He called for strategic alliances with major shipping lines and highlighted the development of multiple ports, including Vardhavan, Deendayal, and Paradip. Additionally, Sonowal addressed the dwindling ship recycling industry in India and the government's plans to revive it through various interventions.
