The Indian government is working towards making India a global transshipment hub by establishing multimodal transportation. The State-run Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Deendayal Port Authority, and the Gautam Adani-owned Mundra port are being included in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) to enhance trade and connectivity across Asia, the Arabian Gulf, and Europe. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the creation of IMEC was signed between several countries, and the IMEC will consist of two separate corridors connecting India to the Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Gulf to Europe. Additional ports in Saudi Arabia, such as the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam and Ras Al Khair, may also be included.
