Nearly 30% of over 14,000 private buses checked in Maharashtra were found to be violating rules during a special drive conducted by regional transport offices. Offences were registered against some of them, with violations including lack of reflectors, indicators, and tail lights, as well as not having valid fitness certificates or fire extinguishing systems. The drive also focused on tackling buses overcharging passengers. In related news, the Delhi Police imposed restrictions in flood-prone areas to prevent unlawful assembly.
