The West Bengal government plans to collaborate with the Kolkata Port Trust (SMP) to establish a tea processing hub near Kolkata and a logistics hub in Balagarh. These hubs would boost exports from the state. The government aims to develop a processing facility for tea near the Kolkata port to prevent damage during transport and to blend tea for export. The logistics hub will be located near the Kolkata port gateway in Balagarh, and construction will commence after the first round of funding. The total investment for the Balagarh facility is estimated to be Rs 435 crore.
