The government is considering introducing a specific digital competition law to regulate big tech companies, rather than amending the existing Competition Act. Automakers in India have raised concerns about the calculation of local value addition for the production-linked incentive scheme. The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, recently approved by the Rajya Sabha, will hold social media companies operating in India accountable and change data processing practices. The exemptions in the proposed law are fewer than those in the European privacy law.
