‘India’s major ports are readying for growth’ - BusinessLine

Indian ports have seen an improvement in performance, with a turnaround time of less than a day, according to Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Cargo traffic at the country's major ports increased 1.74% to 200.3 million tonnes in the April to June 2023 period. Sonowal highlighted the doubling of port capacities since 2014 and the achievement of export targets. The government has also approved the development of a major port in Maharashtra and an international container terminal in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands through public-private partnerships.
