Indian Airforce has received its first C295 aircraft in Spain's Seville. The aircraft, capable of special missions and disaster response, will be manufactured in India under a contract for 56 military transport planes. The C295s will replace the ageing Avro-748 planes in the fleet. The remaining 40 aircraft will be produced in India through a license manufacturing agreement between TATA and Airbus. The aircraft's importance is discussed in detail on Cargo Tales.
