India planning $1.5bln industrial water transport corridor in east: sources - ZAWYA

Coal India Ltd, a government-owned company, and a state waterways body are considering investing up to 120 billion rupees ($1.46 billion) to establish an industrial water transport corridor in India's east. The corridor would connect two ports in Odisha and would mainly be used for transporting finished products such as steel and aluminum. The project aims to alleviate pressure on existing rail and road infrastructure and reduce transportation costs. A detailed project report will be finalized in the next few months.
