India planning $1.5 bln industrial water transport corridor in east ... - Reuters India

Coal India Ltd, Paradip Port Authority, and the Inland Waterways Authority of India are considering investing $1.46 billion to establish an industrial water transport corridor in India's east. The corridor would connect two ports in Odisha via the Brahmi river and could potentially carry 12 to 15 million tonnes of cargo by 2030. The project aims to de-congest and alleviate pressure on existing rail and road infrastructure, primarily for the movement of finished products such as steel, aluminum, sponge iron, and fertilisers.
