India's government aims to become a refuelling hub for green ships by producing the cheapest green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol in the world. The Power and Renewable Energy Minister, Shri R K Singh, stated that India must be prepared to fuel green ships and should develop specific bunker barges for new fuels. India is already carrying out pilot schemes for green shipping, as well as green steel and heavy-duty transportation. The country faces competition from Singapore, China, and Fujairah but plans to develop fuels domestically.
