India loses around Rs 1 lakh crore worth of food due to inadequate post-harvest management and logistics, according to the Government of India. This accounts for 38% of energy loss in the global food system. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is working on developing a cold chain to reduce these losses. Experts at a recent summit emphasized the need for collaboration to reduce food loss and achieve a 30% reduction in methane emissions by 2030. The summit aimed to foster international cooperation to develop sustainable solutions for a greener cold chain.
