India has introduced its own car crash test rating system, making it the fifth country to do so globally. The Bharat NCAP facility will conduct tests at lower costs compared to testing done overseas. The ratings range from 1 to 5 stars based on three key tests. Cars rated 3 stars or above must have electronic stability control and front seat belt reminders. The testing is voluntary, but it is expected to encourage safer vehicle manufacturing and increase awareness among customers.
