India is seeking to boost its presence in the South East Asian trade route by improving port and waterways connectivity with Myanmar and Bangladesh. The plan aims to connect India to trade routes linking Thailand and other ASEAN nations while countering China's dominance in the region. The project includes investments in ports, a logistics hub in Myanmar, and dredging activities in Bangladesh. The goal is to benefit northeastern states by providing better connectivity to the Indian mainland and the ASEAN trade route. Operations have already begun at the Sittwe Port in Myanmar.
