The Indian government is considering a proposal to establish liquefied natural gas (LNG) dispensing stations for trucks using floating storage units (FSU) at nine major ports. This approach would allow flexibility in using the same ship for LNG transportation when gas send outs are low. It aligns with India's goal to decarbonize ports and reduce emissions. Once natural gas consumption rises, conversion to a land-based terminal is possible. This initiative has been implemented in other countries such as Nicaragua, Philippines, Ghana, and Ecuador.
