India and the US will commence discussions to find a solution for the restoration of Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) benefits to domestic exporters after the previous administration revoked the GSP from India in 2019. The GSP allows eligible developing countries to export duty-free goods to the US. About 1,900 Indian products were getting duty-free access to the US market under the GSP. The leaders have supported advancing progress on issues related to the eligibility criteria for GSP. Ultimately, the US Congress will have to take a decision. However, discussions will now commence on that issue.
