India accounts for 35% of cargo handled by Murmansk this year - The Hindu

India's engagement with Russia's Arctic region has been strengthening, with India-bound goods making up the majority of cargo handled by Murmansk port this year. In the first seven months of 2023, Murmansk port handled eight million tonnes of cargo, with India accounting for 35%. India is also involved in the Northern Sea Route (NSR), which offers a shorter shipping route between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. India and Russia are considering a sea-corridor proposal to link Chennai and Vladivostok, potentially boosting cargo transportation between ports.
