The Indian government is expected to invite financial bids for the privatisation of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) after its non-core assets are listed on the stock exchanges this month, according to an official. The government has established Shipping Corporation of India Land And Assets Ltd (SCILAL) as a separate entity for SCI's non-core assets, valued at INR23.92bn ($325m) as of 31 March. SCILAL will be listed on the stock exchanges, with every SCI shareholder receiving one share, before the privatisation process begins.
