First Russian Direct Transit Freight Train Arrives In Saudi Arabia - Russia Briefing

A transit freight train carrying cargo from Russia to Saudi Arabia has passed through Iran's transport corridor, marking the emergence of new supply chains connecting Russia to the Middle East. The train, consisting of 36 containers, traveled via the Incheh Borun rail border near Turkmenistan before being transferred to Jeddah. The route reduces delivery times and customs tariffs, providing a cost-effective alternative to the Suez Canal. This is a significant development within the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), which connects Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, India, and Central Asia. The volume of goods shipped via the INSTC is expected to triple in the coming years.
