The Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India (FFFAI) organized a meeting in Kolkata to discuss the role of inland waterways and land ports in promoting cross-border trade. Mr. Shankar Shinde, Chairman of FFFAI, commended the government's initiatives in developing these transportation modes and emphasized their importance in expanding trade in the East/Northeast region of India. Mr. Arvind Kumar, Director of Inland Waterways Authority of India, highlighted recent developments in inland waterways, including increasing their share to 5% by 2030. He also mentioned new projects for connectivity and ease of navigation.
