Draft notification issued for mandating air conditioner on truck cabins in India - Devdiscourse

The Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed a mandate for the installation of air conditioning systems in the cabins of N2 and N3 category trucks from 2025. The draft notification invites comments and suggestions from stakeholders for a 30-day period. Union Highways and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the proposal, stating that it is necessary to take care of truck drivers who operate in extreme temperatures. Gadkari also highlighted the shortage of drivers in India and the need for restrictions on their working hours.
