DNV, a classification society in Norway, has granted an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Hudong-Zhonghua for their design of a potential world's largest capacity LNG carrier. The design measures 344 meters long and has a capacity of 271,000 cbm in five cargo tanks. It includes energy-saving technology and advanced safety systems. Despite its size, the carrier will be able to berth at over 70 LNG terminals. DNV presented the AiP at Gastech 2023 in Singapore.
