China's ports experienced positive growth in container and cargo throughput from January to May this year. Container volume increased by 4.8% YoY to 122 million TEUs, while cargo throughput grew by 7.9% to 6.75 billion tons. Six of the top ten container handling ports globally are located in mainland China, with Shanghai being the largest. In terms of cargo handling, Ningbo-Zhoushan is the leading port. Water-to-railway container volume also saw a significant increase, up 10.2% compared to the same period last year.
