India is planning to sign a 10-year contract for the Chabahar port project in Iran, with plans to increase investments at the Shahid Beheshti terminal. The foreign arbitration clause, which was holding up the contract, is likely to be dropped. Indian officials may visit Chabahar in the coming weeks to finalize details. The Chabahar contract, valued at $85 million, will be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer mode. India has already supplied six gantry cranes worth $25 million for the port.
