Apple is diversifying its supply chain away from China and assembling its devices in India. iPhone supplier Foxconn has started production of the iPhone 15 in India, with other factories soon to follow. While India has become a major hub for smartphone assembly, Apple is currently only assembling the base models of the iPhone 15 in the country. However, assembling the top variants in India would help Apple establish a robust supply chain and avoid losses from supply shortages. Assembling in India would also allow Apple to diminish its reliance on Chinese-manufactured chips amid the US-China trade war. Despite reports that Apple currently lacks immediate plans to initiate assembly in India, it could be a strategic move for future success.
