Air India, now owned by Tata Group, aims to boost the freight and cargo industry in India and globally. The airline plans to increase the belly capacity of its fleet by adding new wide-body aircraft, which will increase its cargo capacity by 300% over the next five years. Air India recently placed an order for 470 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, and is actively evaluating the possibility of operating freighters. The airline sees huge potential in the air cargo industry and aims to support India's goal of growing its cargo industry to 10 million tonnes by 2030.
